Q:25

we have have eight marbles. One is heavier. other ones are equal. and we have to find which one is heavier. and we can use two pan scale only two times. it is asked how we can do that.

Answer:

I put two marbles on table. and i put 3 marbles in one pan and 3 marbles in another pan.

First measure attempt? if both sides of scale weight is equal

if two-pan scale where there are 3 marbles on each pan is on balance then heavier marble should be one of those two that I have put over table. and i measure those two and find heavier one.

First measure attempt? if both sides’ weight is NOT equal (such as shown image below)

at first measure if one side of pan is heavier then i know one of those tree is heavier. i take those three marble from heavier pan. and i put one over table and i meausure rest two of them. if they are equal the heavier one is on table, if not equal you know what is heavier.
